BlogEngine.NET 3.0 Is Here

Today we are releasing BlogEngine.NET 3.0 with host of new features and improvements. Here is the short list:
Along with new features, there are changes, improvements and bug fixes to make project better. Here couple of big ones.

Web Application instead of Website

BlogEngine started as website project back in the days when it was defalt option. For variaty of reasons we moved BE to more modern, stable and generally accepted Web Application model. Main difference is instead of deploying .cs files to web server and letting ASP.NET create assemblies on the fly, build happens before deployment. So instead of many .cs files we build and deploy single BlogEngine.NET.dll.

New Gallery

Changing application model now requires extensions to be compiled rather than installed as .cs files. We took this as opportunity to change gallery site from 3rd party we've been using to standard gallery server with simple package upload form. We converted most items to run under 3.0 and keep working on moving the rest. More to come.

Hey, finally packages from gallery install and work as they should! Keep it up, I really hate to install extension just to find it does not work and sometimes won't even uninstall. Please please take a good care of it!

This is so great! I am really excited about these updates ... auto updates, will that mean smaller but more frequent updates in the future?

Will multi language posts be a part of any future update?

Thanks for all the great work - highly appreciated!

Shorter update cycle yes, multi-language posts not sure. Seems like adding complex feature too few going to use. I'd rather see extension loading translated post, if that what you mean by multi-language.

I knew it was a long shot Smile but hey, I am more than happy about the direction it is taking already, so who am I to ask for more Smile

Will look forward to more great updates!

        Thanks again!

In new version, the requirement of Full Trust on server persists?

Unfortunately yes, as soon as we got dependency on 4.5  framework everything in web api and webpages requires full trust.

You guys seriously need to address the bunch of outdated links. None of the links listed on te page are working. The information about Azure hosting is outdated and doesn't work. There's only information about how to upload to the gallery but there seems to be no option to browse the gallery online for themes etc
