We're a little behind schedule

The next release has been set to this November, but we need to push it another week or so. It's not because we want to push it, but we have had some issues with computers seriously crashing and just a general shortage of spare time.

We wan't to push the release so we can make sure the RSS/ATOM and BlogML importer will work perfectly and that the overall quality of the release will be as high as possible. Also, we wan't to make sure that we fully support Mono out of the box without any tweaks are needed. Hope you understand.

Thanks for the update. I am eagerly waiting for this new release. I have created a new theme for 1.2 (TheMissingPiece), Waiting for this new release so that I can amend it, so that it will be compatible with the new release.

Just kidding. Great job so far... I am leaving my current job in a month or so and will hopefully be able to contribute to the project. I have some cool ideas for extensions I think people will like...

I've been trying to setup BlogEngine.Net 1.2 on GoDaddy for days now. I'm not going to ask for their support because I know they will want me to go through their check lists that I don't have the time for.

I want to say this so loud that everyone can hear it. Please change the project model of BlogEngine from 'Web Site' to 'Web Application' or at least support both. I have to spend ages to convert your project to something that is manageable by someone like me who hasn't actually written the code.

These little things make the world of difference in a project. So if I have to spend almost half the time you spend on this project just to convert it then maybe I'm better off writing the whole thing myself and get all the credit for it, right?

Web Site model has serious security challenges on shared environments. I guess 90% of the users of BlogEngine.Net using shared environments. I can’t blame GoDaddy for being so restrictive but I can blame this project for not taking care of this matter head on.

The reason I’m being very critic is because I like this project for being very neat and has the potential to get better all the time. But as a user/developer how can I use something that is not designed to meet anything other than ‘normal condition’.

Basically, you need to setup directory as web app and remove trust level line from web.config - that's all you need to setup on godaddy standard shared account. If you google any combination of godaddy, blogengine and install, it should bring:

blog.donnfelker.com/.../...DaddySharedHosting.aspx

The BlogEngine is up and running now. I think by default on GoDaddy I have to manually set all folders containing .cs files with Read and Web permissions so that it can be compiled on the fly. Setting each folder as I did takes about 4 mins on dialup connection.

I had so many problems including the admin links never showed up. I re-deployed the root files and magically the BlogEngine started working.

The idea of deploying a web application with the .cs files on shared environments is very strange to me. Call me old fashioned but don't we all developers would do anything to protect our code? I don't get it why Microsoft ever introduced such a bad project model 'Web Site' or I never understood how it works.

Great job so far Mads and team! I wanted to see if there was any interest out there for either a picasa or flickr extension to allow easy integration and provide a quick little photo gallery? I've just started using dotnetblogengine and have been very impressed with the flexibility it offers. Keep up the good work guys!
