We will not release the next version

25. September 2007 by Team 22 Comments

...until we have 30 languages, so please help translate BlogEngine.NET 1.2. We're already more than half way there. It's very easy and doesn't take more than 20 minutes. See here how to translate.

We still need at least 4 languages including:

  • Norwegian
  • Icelandic
  • Polish
  • Hungarian
  • Bulgarian
  • Romanian
  • Turkish
  • Korean
  • Klingon
  • Latvian
  • Lithuanian
  • etc.

A Klingon translation is required before release?

Klingon is essential to the success of BlogEngine. We simply cannot defend a release without full Klingon support ;)

This seems like a pretty stupid reason for delaying a release. But whatever, I'm not the boss of you Smile.

I hope you guys have fixed the bug where it shows "Please enter a valid email" and "Please enter a valid URL," when I do both? 'Cuz it's appearing on this form right now...

All bugs are fixed. This site still run on the 1.1 release and won't be upgraded before we release the next version.

We are waiting for the 1.2.But Mads sure people in these Country use BlogEngiee?

I think the language can be released by language pack.
Don't include all language in the download version.

For Example,I use Chinese, and i don't use the other languages,I can remove them from the blog.

I agree that delaying a release for language translation doesn't seem like the best move.

If there is insufficient interest in a particular language to have someone translate it, it seems that you are punishing the many to placate the few and "make your target language numbers."

If the only person that wants to use this software in Latvian, has only a second language in Lithuanian, you have a bit of an issue, yes?

Perhaps, separate update language packs, when requested and ready might be a better approach.

Other than that, It's a fine bit of work.  Thanks.

I have a Persian (Iran Smile) friend that im going to ask to help us!!

Have you fixed the bug when adding quotation marks in the title of a post? That is the one that says "illegal characters" etc.

dude... stop teasing!
I've sent emails to everyone I know who speaks any sort of foreign language to see if they can help
but really... why not release the darn thing now if it's ready and add language packs as they become available...

I gotta agree... it doesn't make a lot of sense to hold up the release for translations. It's not difficult to add the translations as they are completed, so what the heck? The sooner 1.2 is released, the sooner we can start adding to it and getting our blogs updated.

We could use babblefish to get the remaining translations done, but I'm sure that's not Mads objective right? And I'm sure Mads isn't holding out on translation issues.

I was hoping to upgrade to the new version this weekend, but if it's not done yet, to bad... but I'll check in 20times a day to see if it's up and running Smile

I gotta say, I'm with Robert Bullock on this one, the official release should not be held up by missing translations, that woudl be silly.

But I also gotta say that Mads has done one hell of an excellent job with the engine so far.

As we say over here in the UK, "respect".

I've got a friend who can translate into Ukrainian once she get back into town on Monday. I bet she will help.

Good luck with the Latvian though
