Good job. It looks like a lot of good features were added. Now... for those of us who use the SQL provider, is there any way to do an "upgrade" for our existing sites?

Bill

October 1. 2007 18:26

Mads Kristensen

@Bill, yes there is. There is a SQL script in the "setup" folder in the webproject. You can use that to update your database.

Jesper Lund Stocholm

Is the information regarding updating in the Wiki (in my case from 1.0 and 1.1 to 1.2) still valid?

Jesper Lund Stocholm

October 2. 2007 17:51

Mads Kristensen

@Jesper. Yes it is. The only difference is that you have to look in the robots.txt and follow the guide in there.

Bill

Thanks for the info Mads. Again I say, great work. Wordpress has nothing on blogengine.

So I was looking at the way the database script is setup for v1.2 and I have a v1.1 database. I am guessing there is no easy diff report on the changes? I guess should have stuck with the XML provider.

If anyone has done an upgrade using the SQL Server version, I'd appreciate any pointers.

Thanks

Bill

Mads,

Ahem ... robots.txt? The contents of the robots.txt in the "web files" download contains nothing but

#Remove the '#' character below and replace example.com with your own website address.
#sitemap: http://example.com/sitemap.axd

... how can that help me upgrade my current v 1.0 blog to 1.2 ?

:o)

@Jesper, take a look at Al's upgrade guide www.nyveldt.com/.../...ngineNET-from-11-to-12.aspx

Jesper Lund Stocholm

Hi Mads,

Thanks for the link. However it doesn't help me with upgrading from version 1.0 to 1.2. I will see if I can document the process myself and put the documentation on my blog.

Hello! I've already sent you the translated Localization file (.resx) twice, but have not received any email from BlogEngine .NET.

I'm currenty using translated version in my Korean Blog (http://koreanblog.webstorymaker.com).

If you haven't received my mail and the localization file (translated in Korean), leave me a message through my blog.

Updated the blog yesterday from 1.1, which was installed less than 2 months ago. Found the actual instructions just now here, I used the old wiki version and well... It all turned out good

Got bvrave and am attempting to deploy on my developement site- which is hosted on a longhorn system. All I get is the 500 error with no clues to lead me. Will try running the admin code thingy to convert the system.web to system.webServer

Update to my last post

The Vista/IIS-7 instructions on the Installation Wiki regarding AppCmd to migrate was part 1 of my problem. I then moved to another 500 series error- this was eliminated by commenting out the <globalization> portion of web.config.

Now I am up and running just fine. I love the whole thing and once I actually learn how to blog I should be very happy

What is the deal with syntax highlighting?  I can't find any documentation on it.  I search the entire project and only found the follow in the style sheets.

.code
{
  font-size: 12px;
  color: black;
  font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", Courier, Monospace;
  background-color: #F1F1F1;
  line-height: normal;
}

.code p{
  padding: 5px;
}

.code .rem { color: #008000; }

.code .kwrd { color: #0000ff; }

.code .str { color: #006080; }

.code .op { color: #0000c0; }

.code .preproc { color: #0000ff; }

.code .asp { background-color: #ffff00; }

.code .html { color: #800000; }

.code .attr { color: #ff0000; }

.code .alt {  background-color: #f4f4f4; }

.code .lnum { color: #606060;}
